What is Stress?

Hi Guys,

"My name is Sudhakar. I am an Engineering professional. Today I would like to talk about Stress where I will discuss my observations." I try to use very simple words for better understanding. The purpose of this blog is to convey my thoughts.

I have participated in conducting Stress management programs in Schools, Colleges and Corporate offices. 

Stress can be defined as my body response when I am in certain situations. It varies from individual to individual. 


In fact it can be stress for me but may not be for you. Some people say that few stress are good for us. I don’t agree with it. 



Stress can be divided under 2 categories-


Internal Stress- These are the stress caused by your emotional state. Few people are very sensitive to specific situation or behaviour and this can lead to a stressful condition.


There are few factors creating Internal Stress.



Impurity in thoughts- 

I am sure that each of us definately agree about the polluted mind. Yes I am calling it polluted because it's responsible for creating stress in our daily life.  


Due to social media, movies and our so called modern life style have made our mind a sick mind. 

We can't overcome thoughts and can't live in silence. Actually I and you have become much more reactive to every situation. Brain keeps thinking all the time. Unwanted thoughts are similar to wastage of energy.

"In fact we are slave of thoughts"



Impure Desires- These days I and you want to have everything. We love to have lavish life style, big cars, bank balance. Unfortunately after working hard, we are unable to achieve that and become stressful. I call these impure because these desires are restricting our growth.

Lack of confidence- Sometimes even having sufficient knowledge, you don’t have confidence to present or express something to others. This also creates Stress in our professional and family life. 

Communication problem- Few years back sometimes I found that I was unable communicate to people. This created a lot of mental stress. Later I started working on more communication part. 


I am sure this is the story of many people.



Anger and no forgiveness- Due to over reactive mind, anger is covering our personalities. We are losing relations because of no forgiveness.


External Stress- There are few factors which create stress from outside.


Competition- If competition is not healthy, it develops unnecessary stress. Unhealthy competition creates greed, jealous and hate for others.







Domination- Sometimes if I am being dominated by someone and I don't feel comfortable, it creates stress. It can be work place or family.



Abusive communication- It’s very common understanding that using abusive language for getting some work done is good but this is a myth. Abusive environment can only spoil relations.


Bad Habits-  It’s common to start eating more, smoking or drinking alcohol to cope up stress. These habits actually create stress for your body which is root of many diseases like diabetes, blood pressure, migraine, psychosomatic diseases like cancer etc. I will share this in my next blog.
